Impact on the elderly 

  • Much more vulnerable to the physical effects due to social isolation:

    • social disconnection puts older adults at greater risk of depression and anxiety, with that, they are also at higher risk of cardiovascular complications, ​autoimmune, neurocognitive, and mental health problems.

    • many elderly people may not have easy access to social media to connect with the world, including their own family members, exacerbating existing health problems while increasing emotional suffering

    • mobility may be severely affected

 

 

What to do? 

  • Get vaccinated as soon as possible

  • Wear a mask and practice physical distance

  • Strong infection prevention and control is critical: wash your hands frequently

  • Keep in touch with family and friends, even if it is a short phone call
